Lions Club of Burdwan is one of the oldest Non Government Organization working for the people of Bardhaman and surrounding areas since the year 1964. Lions Club of Burdwan is located within the heart of the town, on Good Shed Road. Our major activities involves Eye Hospital (Outdoor and Indoor), Child Hospital, Immunization Center, Medicine Shop, Spectacle Shop, General Outdoor, Pathology Clinic, Homeopathic Clinic. We also offer various Self Employment Programme for women which includes training like Beautician, Sewing Machine Operation etc.Karate & Dance Class are also organized in our premises. We also offer Conference Hall in Burdwan for organizing events at affordable rates. Conference Halls are well furnished and Air Conditioned.
The most prestigious project of Lions club of Burdwan is the Child Hospital. It was started on the lionistic year 1990-91 with 20 beds. There are number of well known Paediatric doctors attending the hospital. It was the first Child hospital in the Lions district 322 at that time.
The primary project of Lions Clubs International was the Sight First Project. Lions Club of Burdwan, keeping this project as its pilot project, the club continued this project and made it one of the most successful projects till date. It all started with free cataract operation in 1969-70 and free post operative care.
West Bengal had only one Immunization centre till 1970, which was given from S.S.K.M Hospital, Kolkata. Parents had to take their wards to Kolkata to get the service. After a long communication with the health department in Delhi, Lions Club of Burdwan was given the license to operate a Immunization centre only after SSKM hospital in kolkata.
815 million people were affected by hunger in 2016 alone—that’s over 11% of the world’s population. 155 million children under age five are stunted due to chronic malnutrition. Lions and Leos serve to improve human flourishing, and we see how the global hunger and nutrition crisis bears upon our local communities. We believe community improvement depends on the thriving of its members. Our strategic objective is to ensure that all community members have access to nutritious foods.
30% of the world’s land area is covered by forest, and over 15 billion trees are cut down every year. By 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas. Lions and Leos serve to strengthen the relationship between the community and its environment. We’ve seen how our stewardship of natural resources can improve quality of life and increase engagement in our local communities. Our strategic objective is to sustainably protect and restore our environment to improve the well-being of all communities.
Every two minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer. The family is a nucleus around which most communities are built. The next generation’s ability to thrive is closely tied to the supports of the local community. Lions and Leos have seen and felt the effects of cancer on children and their families and continue to bring hope through tangible service and support. Our strategic objective is to help those affected by childhood cancer survive and thrive.
Lions club of Burdwan has its own in house pathology clinic with sophisticated automatic analyser machine. All major pathology tests are done here at a very reasonable cost. 84,031 number of beneficiaries has been benefited till December 2018.
Lions club of Burdwan has its own general outdoor clinic where renowned doctors of the town treat patients. The doctors consist of General Medicine, Gynaecology, General Surgeon.

I have an extraordinary chance to act as President of our club. In order to better serve people, we will expand our charitable efforts and improve the infrastructure that is already in place.
